Where is Explorium located?

Explorium sits against the stunning backdrop of the Dublin Mountains, overlooking the city. You’ll find us on Blackglen Road, Sandyford, Dublin 18, D18 N1F2.

We’re only a short hop from Dublin City Centre and easily reached from most parts of the country by car or public transport. Free on-site parking and accessible transport links make getting here simple for families, school groups, and corporate visitors alike.

What hours are you open?

Our doors are open seven days a week, with different hours depending on the experience:

  • Junior Explorium: Daily, 9.30am – 5.00pm
  • Science & Activities: Daily, 10.00am – 5.30pm


Please check our booking system for live availability before travelling. On rare occasions, areas may close for private events or maintenance.

Do I need to pre-book tickets?

 Yes, to avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend booking online in advance. When we’re full, no walk-in tickets are sold.

How much are tickets?

  • Junior Explorium: Children €15, Adults €7.50, under 2s free, carers free with valid ID.
  • Science: €30 per person.
  • Activities: Urban Climb €18, Conquer Your Fears €22, VR Experience €15, AR Experience €15.

 

Do I need a child ticket for my 12-year-old?

 Yes, all visitors under 18 require a child’s ticket for Junior Explorium.

Are children under 2 free?

 Yes, but you’ll need to reserve a free Under 2 ticket when booking online.

Are tickets refundable?

 All tickets are non-refundable.

Can I change my booking?

 Email info@explorium.ie at least 48 hours in advance. We’ll do our best to help, but changes aren’t always guaranteed.

Discounts on admission?

 Carers with valid ID receive free entry. Children under 2 go free.

Do you sell gift cards?

 Yes, digital gift cards are available online, and physical cards can be purchased at reception.

Where can I park?

We offer ample free on-site parking, including dedicated family spaces and accessible bays close to the entrance. Overflow parking and secure bike racks are also available.

Do I need to arrive at my scheduled time in Junior Explorium?

Yes, timed entry helps us manage crowding. Your ticket is valid for 2 hours from the start time.

What timeslots are available?

  • Junior: 9.30–11.30, 12.00–14.00, 14.30–16.30.
  • Science: Tickets valid all day.
  • Activities: Each activity has set times, e.g., climbing (1 hour) and VR/AR (30 minutes). Please arrive 15 minutes early.

 

Can I leave and re-enter?

 Yes, just request a wristband at reception.

Can I use one ticket for multiple areas?

 No, Junior, Science, and Activities are ticketed separately.

What about accessibility?

 Explorium is fully wheelchair accessible and buggy friendly. We also provide a drop-off area at the entrance for convenience. Our staff are trained to support families, carers, and visitors with additional needs.

What’s the best time to visit?

 Explorium is brilliant year-round, but if you prefer a calmer atmosphere:

  • Junior Explorium: Weekday afternoons are usually quieter, giving little explorers more space to play.
  • Science & Activities: Fridays tend to be less crowded, making them ideal for school trips, team-building, or family visits at a gentler pace.

Can I bring my own food to Explorium?

 No outside food is allowed inside. Instead, enjoy our on-site dining at Gravity Social.

What food can be purchased onsite?

  • Gravity Social Café: Located in Junior Explorium and near the Gift Shop. Fresh sandwiches, salads, pastries, barista coffee, and light bites perfect for families on the go.
  • Gravity Social Restaurant: Situated in the Science wing, this relaxed spot offers hot meals, desserts, and drinks, with sweeping views across Dublin.

Is Junior Explorium just for under 7s?

 Junior is designed for ages 2-7, but older siblings are welcome. We ask that they remain mindful of the smaller children around them.

My toddler is 22 months. Can we still visit?

 Yes, under 2s are welcome with adult supervision.

Is Science only for over 8s?

Science is recommended for ages 8+, but younger children can still enjoy many exhibits with supervision. A few installations may be out of reach physically, but families can explore together.

What if my children are under 7 and over 8?

For a shared day out, book the Science section; there’s plenty for all ages. If your younger ones tire quickly, you can also split your visit between Junior (under 7s) and Activities (8+).

Activity Zone Age Limits

  • Urban Climbing: Children must be at least 1m tall and 25kg in weight.
  • Conquer Your Fears: Minimum age 10+.
  • VR & AR: Minimum age 8+.Can adults take part?

 

Can adults take part?

Absolutely! Adults can dive into exhibits like the F1 Car, G-Force Bike, Lightning Show, and Climbing Walls, plus enjoy tailored corporate team-building, club outings, and educational workshops.

Can children be left alone in Junior Explorium?

No, all children must be supervised at all times by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.

Can children be left alone in Science?

No, children under 16 must have adult supervision. Ages 16–17 require an adult present in the building.

Can children be left alone in the Activity Zone?

Children may join sessions under staff supervision, but their accompanying adult must stay onsite.

Is it okay to film or take photos at Explorium?

Yes, informal photography and personal video are welcome during regular hours, provided they don’t disturb others. Photography of strangers without consent is not permitted.

Who should take extra care?

 Some experiences involve flashing lights, motion, or physical exertion. We advise caution if you:

  • Have epilepsy or are sensitive to strobe lighting
  • Are pregnant
  • Have heart, neck, or back conditions
  • Have limited mobility (some activities include steps, crawling, or confined spaces)
